Art and Science in the Courtyard - Norfolk Communities Explore Microscopic Worlds with Edible East

Art and Science in the Courtyard

About Art and Science in the Courtyard

To celebrate Norwich Science Festival, and our own Centenary year, we have partnered with Edible East CIC, to showcase a pop-up exhibition that combines both art and science.

The outdoor exhibition was created in collaboration with local communities, inspired by the extraordinary scientists and archivists in our city, based at the John Innes Centre and the Centre for Microbial Interactions.

The courtyard will be populated with panels of silhouettes of Norfolk families exploring microscopic worlds. The images feature children lifting giant grains of pollen to help the bees, as well as luscious details of hand-made prints of plants growing in Norfolk.

The compositions were created by Norwich based artists Jennie Pedley and Tara Sampy in collaboration with Norfolk communities at Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse Museum and in Lakenham, as part of Edible East's 'Through the Microscope' project.
